Building a secure, stable and easy-to-manage website for a national employment and community services organisation
In 2023, Infomax Digital partnered with an Adelaide-based agency to migrate their client's website from WordPress to Craft CMS. The client, a national employment and community services organisation, needed a more stable, secure and manageable platform for their public-facing website.
Our responsibility covered the full rebuild: a custom Craft CMS website, a tailored admin interface, content migration, SEO migration and deployment. Following the successful launch, we have continued to provide ongoing support and maintenance for the website for approximately three years.
The existing WordPress website had grown over time into a complex and difficult system to manage. A large number of plugins had been added to handle various features, but this had created several problems.
Website speed and performance were suffering. Conflicts between plugins and inconsistent updates made the site slower, less reliable and harder to maintain. The admin interface had also become complicated, making it difficult for new staff to add and manage content without risking layout issues or broken pages.
Security was another major concern. The site had already experienced a ransomware attack in 2022, which highlighted the risks of an overly plugin-heavy setup and a hosting environment that was not fully hardened. The client needed a platform that would be easier to manage, more secure and less expensive to maintain.
Rather than trying to patch the existing WordPress site, we recommended a clean migration to Craft CMS. This allowed us to reduce reliance on third-party plugins and build a solution specifically tailored to the organisation's needs.
We built a custom Craft CMS website with only the functionality required, avoiding unnecessary plugins. The new site was deployed on a secured and stable server environment designed to reduce risk and improve reliability.
A major focus of the admin interface was to make content management foolproof. We structured fields so that staff could add and update content confidently without being able to accidentally break page layouts or styling.
The migration to Craft CMS delivered a significantly more stable and secure website for the organisation. The new site is lighter, faster and easier to manage on a day-to-day basis.
The project has also become a long-term partnership. Since the launch, Infomax has continued to provide ongoing support and maintenance, helping the organisation keep its website secure, up to date and performing well.
This project highlights how the right platform choice can make a big difference for organisations that need reliability, security and ease of use.
By moving from a plugin-heavy WordPress setup to a carefully built Craft CMS solution, the organisation now has a website that is simpler to manage, more secure and better positioned for long-term success.
Infomax continues to support the website through ongoing maintenance, updates and improvements, ensuring it remains a dependable digital asset for the organisation and its users.
